St. Michael's Concert October 17

The first concert of the season from the Community Concert Series at St. Michael's will be the John Allmark Jazz Ensemble on Sunday, October 17 at 7:30 p.m. at St. Michael's Church, 399 Hope St., Bristol. The audience will be offered classic jazz with style and will delight in taking a trip down memory lane. John Allmark's trumpet skills have led to performances with the Boston Pops, the RI Philharmonic, and some of the finest recording artists in the country. He formed the renowned John Allmark Jazz Orchestra 17 years ago, which still performs regularly at Bovi's in East Providence and other clubs in the area. This concert will feature a select group from the orchestra, including Bristol's own highly acclaimed trumpeter Eric Bloom, who has played in many of America's most prestigious jazz venues and jazz festivals. Each St. Michael's concert also features a piece performed by a talented young musician from a local school and a reception with the artists.

The popular dinner/concert packages will again be offered in cooperation with restaurants in downtown Bristol. The package price includes a fixed price dinner and concert ticket, given at the restaurant. Package reservations should be made by calling the restaurant. There will be two choices for this concert: Le Central, 483 Hope St., for $43 (396-9965) and DeWolf Tavern, 267 Thames St., for $35 (254-2005).

Concert only tickets are $20, $15 for seniors, $10 for students, and are available at Paper Packaging & Panache, 418 Hope St., and at the door. For further information, call 254-9626 or 253-6084.
